The beach setting in Until Dawn 2 belongs to Akishima Island, the remote South Pacific destination visited by the Dead True ghost-hunting crew. It is a tropical setting built around an abandoned resort, rather than a return to the first game's snowy mountain holiday. There is also a separate collectible called the Beach Photo in the original Until Dawn. That older clue is not an announced collectible location in the sequel.
Until Dawn 2 is scheduled for January 28, 2027. This is a setting guide based on the announced story, not a beach walkthrough: a complete island map, beach collectible route, and list of beach encounters have not been established.
Recognize Akishima Island
The sequel replaces the original game's cold landscape with a tropical island and its abandoned amenities. Sandy beaches, clear water, palms, a resort building, and the surrounding wilderness form the setting presented for this new story. The contrast is deliberate: the environment initially resembles a holiday destination, while its history points toward tragedy and supernatural vengeance.
That description gives you a useful way to recognize scenes from the sequel. A beach or resort image featuring the Dead True cast fits the announced island setting. A photograph of the Washington siblings, or instructions that begin inside the old lodge, belongs to the original game instead.

The island should not be treated as a confirmed open-world map. Environmental exploration and searching for clues are announced, but a tropical location does not establish free movement across every beach, swimming mechanics, boat controls, or a route that bypasses the story. Those would require their own gameplay confirmation.
Understand why the crew travels there
Dead True is a paranormal entertainment channel whose members have previously staged their scares. A viral stunt helps the team secure a television deal, and the island becomes the destination for a professionally funded episode. The crew arrives with career ambitions as well as complicated relationships, so the assignment brings existing tensions into an unfamiliar location.
The later story reveal adds an important step before the journey. At HorrorCon in Sydney, the team meets Yoona, a survivor of a supernatural attack. Her scar and warning lead them toward the remote island. The resort there has been abandoned since its mysterious closure in the 1970s, while the secrets beneath the setting extend much further into the past.
This is enough to explain the beach's role without inventing a beach chapter. The island is the place where the team expects to turn someone else's haunting into television and instead faces a threat of its own. The announced objective is to survive and escape; no verified beach extraction procedure is available yet.
Separate the beach from other revealed locations
Not every outdoor scene in a trailer has been identified as the same beach. Likewise, the island is not the only location mentioned in the story. The Dead True crew also investigates Blackwood Sanatorium, filming an episode about events from twelve years earlier, before the later trailer takes them toward Akishima.
| Location or object | What it belongs to | What is established |
|---|---|---|
| Akishima Island | Until Dawn 2 | Remote South Pacific island and the main announced destination |
| Abandoned luxury resort | Until Dawn 2 | Island amenities closed under mysterious circumstances in the 1970s |
| Blackwood Sanatorium investigation | Until Dawn 2 story reveal | Dead True films an episode about earlier tragic events |
| Beach Photo | Original Until Dawn | A photograph connected to the Washington siblings and the Twins Clueline |
The shared franchise does not make these locations interchangeable. A guide that tells you to enter the Washington lodge to reach an Akishima beach collectible is combining two different tasks.
Identify the original Beach Photo clue
If your search was actually about a collectible photograph, the original Until Dawn is the relevant game. Its Beach Photo shows Hannah, Josh, and Beth at Cape Cod in August 2013. It belongs to the Twins Clueline and is found inside the lodge, not on a playable tropical beach.
For the original game's Chapter 2 route, Chris can find it by going down the stairs behind the large staircase on the lodge's main floor. The photograph sits on a table near the cinema-room doors. Turn it over to inspect its reverse side; simply looking at its front does not complete that clue inspection.

This clue belongs to the original Until Dawn, rather than the Akishima Island story.
The photograph can also be encountered by other characters later in the original game's route. That availability does not establish anything about sequel chapter selection or collectible persistence. Use those instructions only if you are playing the original Until Dawn and your clue menu identifies the Twins Clueline.
Use the setting information without assuming a route
For now, identify the task first. If you want to understand the sequel's beach footage, focus on Akishima Island, the resort, Yoona's warning, and the Dead True cast. If you want to complete the Beach Photo clue, use the original game's lodge route and inspect the reverse of the picture.
For an eventual sequel walkthrough, the missing information is specific: the playable beach area, the character present there, the chapter or scene, and the choices that control access. None of those should be guessed from a scenic screenshot. A trailer can establish the look of a location while leaving its actual route through the game undisclosed.
